Donald Trump's Regime of Retribution and Reward

The ex-president's insatiable desire for retribution has quickly transformed into a structured framework. Within the year since his election, the president's anger and caprices have assumed the guise of official policies similar to reminiscent to past repressive governments. Federal personnel who fail to comply are summarily dismissed and replaced by devotees. Critical figures who confront him encounter legal action, judicial process and punishment. Opponents have been designated under presidential directives as “anti-American”, “opposed to religious values” and “against free markets”, and warned with legal action as “extremists”.

Federal Agencies Remade

Every instance involving prosecution of Trump's enemies and immunity for supporters exhibits its own distinct characteristics. However, regardless of their specific form, they exemplify examples of what has arisen as a systematic technique. These events are anything but isolated. The administration's cleansing of DoJ attorneys and FBI agents, alongside his placement of supporters in senior positions, began quickly, promptly developed a consistency, and has now been shaped into a structure. DoJ and the FBI have been remade into partisan agencies under Trump's clear command to execute his directives. Injustice has been made normal. It constitutes the retribution system.

Management is focused with penalizing the chief's perceived opponents than they are with safeguarding our national security.

Within the System

The beginnings of this framework has been exposed in the lawsuit of several former top Federal Bureau executives filed in September in the US district court in Washington against FBI director an administration figure and attorney general a key figure for wrongful dismissal in “a initiative of revenge against them for what administration figures considered to be a failure to demonstrate adequate allegiance”. In the complaint that a former acting director, the previous temporary head, describes a discussion in which he “freely acknowledged the unlawfulness of his behavior”.

The official had sought to protect agency personnel from being fired, the filing alleges. Patel told him that “they” – interpreted by the official to be the executive branch and DoJ – had ordered him to dismiss everyone who they determined as having been involved in a criminal investigation against him. The complaint adds: “He explained that he had to fire the personnel his bosses told him to remove, because his chance to hold his own position relied on the dismissal of the personnel who handled investigations involving the leader. The director commented that there was no way he or him could do to prevent these or any other terminations, because ‘the FBI sought to put the President in prison and he recalls it clearly.’” Once he told Patel he was breaking the agency's own regulations, Patel supposedly said “he understood that and he knew the nature of the summary firings were almost certainly illegal”.

Extensive Effects

Since his reported confession to the official, the justice department and the law enforcement agency have been dismantled and reorganized for the administration's revenge apparatus. Several of the FBI's top officials were dismissed or forced out in the initial period of the administration. Approximately numerous legal professionals at the department have accepted a “deferred resignation program”. A minimum of seven federal prosecutors, including those in the New York office, resigned in objection over what they considered as partisan influence in abandoning the corruption case against the city leader, a political figure, in as a trade for his collaboration with Trump's ICE roundups of immigrants. The public integrity section of the department, which manages corruption cases, has been diminished to minimal staff. The rights protection unit has been devastated: seventy percent of its staff has departed. 33% of executives at the department have left. The unit enforcing conservation statutes has lost a majority its supervisors.

Rewards and Sanctions

In the Adams case, the acting US attorney for the NY office, the official, resigned in dissent against what she characterized as the “quid pro quo”. A key figure, the president's “border czar,” appeared as the enforcer with the mayor on Fox News to declare: “If he doesn't come through, I'll be back in New York City.”. Meanwhile, another figure, formerly the justice department figure and a former Trump attorney, who brokered the deal, was awarded an appellate federal judgeship, a likely pathway to the supreme court.

Trump's exemption for crimes committed while in government, provided by the unprecedented decision of the GOP-led on the supreme court, thus blocking his legal action over the political violence and maintaining his public standing for the 2024 election, is the cornerstone on which he depends to defend his stalwarts. Under these circumstances, he has been freed to permit corruption. The consequence of the supreme court decision saturates his government and the GOP thoroughly. The court matter has spread. In the words of Richard Nixon's legal adviser the figure remarked about the Watergate
